Warriors for Warriors will be hosting a pair of Pink Out basketball games at Walled Lake Western High School on Friday, Feb. 6. The evening’s festivities kick off with the Walled Lake Western girls’ basketball team hosting Walled Lake Central at 5:30 p.m. At the conclusion of the girls’ game, members of both girls’ and boys’ Walled Lake Western basketball teams will lineup on the floor to be recognized and it will be announced who that player is playing for that evening.
The boys’ game against Walled Lake Central will start at 7:30 p.m. At halftime, Warriors for Warriors will be presenting three checks for $15,000 each to Susan G. Komen Detroit Race for the Cure, American Cancer Society and Lakes Area St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
Tickets for each game are $5 at the door. Warriors for Warriors donation opportunities will be available at the game for anyone that is interested.
Warriors for Warriors was started at Walled Lake Western High School in 2011 with the goals of increasing cancer awareness, raising funds for cancer research and to help creating ways for students to get involved with their community. Each fall fundraising kicks off with Warriors for Warriors hosting a Pink Out football game where members of the community not only come to support the Walled Lake Western Warriors on the field but to show support and raise money for those in the community that have been affected by cancer. Fundraising takes place throughout the year in support of the Warriors for Warriors cause and each year fundraising culminates with a check presentation at a Walled Lake Western High School Basketball game. As the event continues to grow, the more money and awareness can be raised to help fight this deadly disease.
