12th Annual Warriors for Warriors Pink Out Football Game – Great Success

Walled Lake Western HS hosted the 12th annual, “Warriors for Warriors (W4W),” Pink Out football game on Oct.13, 2023.There was a Warrior Parade and a Jersey Honoree Ceremony. W4W has honored close to 1,000 cancer warriors and honorees have reported what a special and meaningful event this is for them and their families. This year the football pink out and other sports pink out games, plus donations will be able to donate $44,000. In the last 12 years, W4W has raised over $700,000 and the charity partners benefitting from the donations are Angels of Hope Michigan and St. Baldrick’s Foundation for Pediatric Cancer.

The 2023 Honorary Captain, Wesley Collins is a 2nd grade student at Loon Lake Elementary. In March of 2021, Wesley was admitted to Children’s Hospital of Michigan with a bump on his forehead. It was eventually diagnosed as Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He has endured many hospital stays, procedures, and chemo. While treatment lasts for three years and continues to involve chemo, he is through the worst of it. Wesley has returned to school and overall feels better every day. He was so excited to participate as Honorary Captain this year and have the support from the community.

HUGE thanks to Jennifer Sinkevics and Joey Sinkevics, a senior at Walled Lake Western, for donating the signed Aidan Hutchinson jersey. The signed jersey raised money for Angels of Hope and St. Baldrick’s. Congratulations to Beth Schwierking for winning the jersey.
